i don't need to regale you with tales of how fucking shitty it is outside, so instead i'm going to tell you about things i've read recently.

vera bushwack is a killer meditation on self-imposed solitude and queer shit, but it's really the art that fucked me up. sig burwash is a first time graphic novelist who really understands how to use the page, and they transition so fluidly between reality and the fantastic. vera bushwack

i also spent some time rereading the classic 2000s web comic penny and aggie, which begins as a take on betty and veronica before (spoiler) evolving into a very slow burn friends to enemies to lovers story between the titular characters and features some very odd narrative escalations. it ran for nearly a decade, and i think i first tuned in around 2008, about four years into its run. like much of the art and media i grasped at when i was a teen, it isn't exactly good, but i'm not gonna lie. i had a really fun time.
